What an account does

Signing in is optional and there is no password: you get a link by email and following it signs you in. Once you are in, what follows you between devices is the imperial/metric choice the calculators share, the most-used row on the front page, and My tools — the calculators you pin, the order you put them in, the ones you hide, and any lists you make for a job or a crew. Everything else stays exactly the same whether you sign in or not.

There is also an optional details form behind a fold once you are signed in, for tradespeople who want work passed their way. It is opt-in, it is blank until you fill it, and it is not read by anything else on the site.

No email list at the moment

We don't run an email list at the moment, so signing in never puts you on one. The only emails fieldcalc sends are the ones you ask for: a sign-in link, and your results when you press Email me — each one sent once, when you ask.

What is stored, and getting rid of it

Your email address, a session cookie so the site knows it is you, and the synced settings above — plus, on the list, which of the three sites you signed up from and the sentence you agreed to. The privacy note sets out the rest, including the anonymous usage counting that happens whether or not you have an account. Ask at the address on the contact page and the lot is deleted; you do not have to explain why.

Not signing in

Then nothing changes. Every calculator, every worked example and every practice drill on this site works signed out, off the list, and with no email typed anywhere. Start at the drawer, or with start here if you want the tools in an order.
